What is a Standard DBS Check?
Also referred to as Standard Disclosure Checks or Barring Service Checks, this is a mid-level security check. As with a Basic DBS Check, this is a criminal background check that indicates whether an individual has any spent convictions, cautions, warnings or reprimands against their name. However, it also highlights unspent convictions too.
Who is eligible for a Standard DBS Check?
A Standard DBS Check is not a requirement for all people, professions or jobs. A person will be eligible if the role they are applying for is listed in the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975.

How to apply for a Standard DBS Check
Our application process is straightforward and easy to complete.

An organisation will need to register here and set up a company account within 15 minutes. The account users will then be sent the login details and the organisation’s reference.
Complete the application
The applicant will need to complete the Standard DBS Check online application form and provide the employer with the necessary identification documents.
Submit the application
The employer will now need to verify the identification documents supplied, approve the application and then submit it to us.
Wait for the results
Once we have received the application, we’ll oversee it, countersign and then send it to the DBS for processing. Once the process has been completed, the employer will receive a notification, and a hard copy Standard DBS certificate will follow at a later stage.

It will show all the information seen on a Standard DBS Check, however, an employer can also request to see whether an individual is listed on the Children’s Barred List or Adult First List.
