Basic DBS Checks can be requested individually and will highlight any criminal history, convictions or cautions on the Police National Computer. An Enhanced DBS Check will show the full extent of your criminal history. This will include any spent or unspent convictions as well as any cautions, reprimands or warnings against your name.

What DBS Checks do taxi drivers need?
Whether you work as a private or public taxi driver, you will first have to obtain a taxi licence. The process of acquiring this licence will require you to obtain or present an Enhanced DBS Check that is not older than three months. The same will be required of school bus and private car drivers.
Do driving convictions come up on a DBS Check?
Certain types of offences will not come up during a DBS Check, such as speeding, as this is a minor offence. However, more significant offences like drunk driving, excessive speeding and driving without insurance may come up on a check. This will depend on whether the offences will depend on whether they were handled in court. Serious convictions, like death due to dangerous driving, will have to be declared.
How long does a driving ban stay on your record?
A driving ban can last anywhere from one week to six months. Motoring offences will remain on your record for a period of five or more years, after which they will become ‘spent’.
Is being banned from driving considered a criminal conviction?
A driving ban will be considered a criminal conviction if the circumstances deem it to be. Driving bans that involve or were handled in court will be considered to be criminal convictions.
