The Type Of Personal Information We Collect
We currently collect and process the following information:
- Personal identifiers, contacts and characteristics (for example, name and contact details)
- Date of Birth
- A 5 year address history
- Place of birth
- Previous names and the dates they were used
- Nationality and previous nationality
- National Insurance Number
- ID details such as passport number, driver number and their issue dates
How We Get The Personal Information And Why We Have It
Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:
- To process your Basic, Standard or Enhanced DBS Check
We also receive personal information indirectly, from the following sources in the following scenarios:
- Your employer, or volunteering organisation when completing your ID validation as part of your DBS Check
We use the information that you have given us in order to process your Basic, Standard or Enhanced DBS Check for the purpose of your employment or volunteering role.
We may share part of this information with Trans Union for the purpose of your external ID validation in the rare event you might not have the minimum amount of ID required to perform the DBS Check. How We Store Your Personal Information
Your information is securely stored in an ISO27001 accredited Capita owned data centre. All data is held within the UK.
We keep your personal information for a maximum of 6 years. We will then dispose your information by data cleansing it off our system.

Your right of access – You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
